Youth Music Monterey Junior Orchestra

Concerto Competition Winner 2018

"My name is Courtney McDonald, I am in the 8th grade at San Carlos School, and I love to play the violin. First I would like to thank all of those who have helped me become the violinist I am today. I would not be where I am today without their assistance and guidance. A special thanks to my violin teacher Stephanie Brown. She has inspired me to be the best musician that I can be. It's been a privilege to be her student since I was 4 1/2 years old. I want to thank Stephanie for all her time, compassion and amazing dedication that continues to push me to be the best that I can be. I would also like to thank my parents for being supportive and encouraging. When I was little, my favorite movie was an Irish Dancing movie called "Feet of Flames." My favorite part was when two violinists came out and played a duet. I would watch them play and I knew that I wanted to play like that. Thus started my desire to play the violin. I have been playing for about 9 years now. Violin is one of my favorite things to do and I especially love playing Classical and Irish Fiddle pieces...My goal in life is to continue playing the violin and start a career as a professional violinist. I find that passion, dedication, and practice brings you a long way in learning this beautiful instrument. As I play, I remember these three things and I feel they really do make a difference and inspire me to challenge myself and do my best."
